COURT IN ABIA CONTINUES HEARING OF CASE INVOLVING WOMAN AND HER ABUSED HELP

A High court sitting in Umuahia will on Monday 31st January, 2022 continue hearing of the case between the Commissioner of Police versus Zazi Esther David, the woman who allegedly forced hot water down the throat of her 10year old help, Ifunanya Edeh in August last year in Umuahia.

The court will hear witness testimony as well as an application for bail after some two previous bail applications had failed.

The judge had ruled that the accused will jeopardize the case and witness.

Mrs. Esther Zazzi David a resident of Umuahia had in August 2021 allegedly poured hot water on the body of her maid leading to multiple burns on the victim as well as fed her with hot water by force.

The case was charged to court and the accused remanded in prison custody subsequently.

Wife of Abia state governor, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu took interest in the case and has been the one responsible for the victim’s medical bills.

Investigations reveal that Ifunanya is still battling with her life in the hospital as she is yet to take in any solid food due to the sores in her esophagus and stomach.

Chief Press Secretary to the Wife of the Governor, Mr. Chika Ojiegbe has also confirmed that the wife of the governor is still bearing the cost for Ifunanya Edeh’s treatment and is determined to ensure the girl gets the best possible treatment.
