PDP loses Abia gubernatorial candidate for 2023 election

The family of Prof. Eleazar Uche Ikonne has confirmed the passing of their father, husband and grandfather.

The son in a statement announced that his father who until his demise was the gubernatorial flag bearer of the People’s Democratic party Abia state.

According to the statement, Prof Ikonne died at the national hospital, Abuja after he returned from the United Kingdom on health grounds.

Also the campaign council for the gubernatorial candidate has joined in the announcement.

A statement signed by the chairman, Barr. Chinedum Elechi also condoled the family and prayed for the repose of the dead.

The statement reads thus:

It is with a heavy heart but with total submission to the will of God that the Uche Ndi Abia Campaign Organisation announce the passing of our Principal and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate for the 2023 general elections, Prof Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne.

We condole with the family of our late principal.

May his soul rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing to his family.
