Special education centres in Umuahia get buses from Abia government.

In fulfillment of his children’s day promise, Abia state governor, Dr Alex Otti has presented two brand new buses to the Special Education Centre for the blind and the Special Education Centre for the deaf and mentally challenged in the state.

The governor said the gesture is a sign of the commitment of government to ensure that all including the weak live a decent life.

Governor Otti who was represented by the Secretary to the state government, Professor Kenneth Kalu during the presentation of the buses at the government House in Umuahia, assured that it is the begining of good things to come as many more goodies will follow.

According to the press statement endorsed by Jinanwa Azubuike, director of information, government House, the governor promised that soon the fencing of the school of the blind will follow and implored Abian citizens to have confidence, saying that this is a new Abia that will work for all.

In her remark, the Commissioner for education Professor Uche Eme Uche observed that the governor has a passion for people living with disabilities, hence the reason he created the office of the SSA for Persons Living with Disabilities.She advised that the feeling of discrimination for those with disabilities should not be as the governor is out to give them a sense of belonging.

She said that the governor has demonstrated that through the donation of the vehicles, adding that they are the first to receive such gesture from the governor.

Responding, the principal, School of the blind Afaraukwu Umuahia, Mrs Nnenna Benedict thanked the governor for the show of love and prayed God to continue to guide and direct his steps.
