Rural development: Imo Community commences use of health centre five years after completion

Five years after a son of Isiala Okporo, Orlu local government area of Imo state, Mr. Nnamdi Agukwe handed over a health centre he built for the community, the authorities have finally inaugurated it.

The chairman of the local government Hon. Chris Mbarie performed the inauguration amidst cheers and applause.

He said it was a wake up call for all sons and daughters of Orlu to think home while living abroad. He commended the benefactor for his benevolence, describing it as the “best gift anyone can give his people.

He stated that making money was not the issue but what one did with the money.

According to him, it was an act of love for someone to give such and added that he looked forward to seeing Mr. Agukwe in order to thank him.

The security situation at the time and other issues hindered the inauguration and take over by Orlu LGA, but today, the commissioning of the healthcare center by the government marks the official commencement of health care provision by Orlu LGA through the new facility, and ensures accessible healthcare to Isiala Okporo Autonomous Community.

The ceremony which attracted the traditional ruler of the community, HRH Exe Francis Nonyelum and other dignitaries marks the beginning of affordable and closer health care services to the people of the community.

The supervisory councillor in charge oh health expressed joy at the project, saying he was confident it would reduce cases of health fatalities.

Meanwhile the major sponsor of the health centre, Mr. Agukwe has appreciated all who contributed in one way or the other to the actualisation of the clinic.

His statement reads thus:

“To God be all the glory. I would like to appreciate all those who helped to make this a reality.Isiala Okporo community for the initiative and taking the building close to lintel level.

Hon Donatus Nonyelum (former PG Isiala Okporo) for prompting me to complete the project, securing hospital equipments and pushing for the inauguration.

Chief Paschal Okolie for drilling the borehole and installing the water tanks plus a generator.Chief Ezekiel Udemba for a generator.A Pastor brother for the fans.Chief Fred Nwike for securing some of the hospital apparatus during the crisis
