Abia Online Media Practitioners of Abia State, an umbrella body of OMPAN, has condemned the arrest of its Chairman, Comrade Ugochukwu Nwankwo by police men believed to be men of the Abia State Police Command.
Comrade Ugochukwu Nwankwo was arrested by men of the Nigerian Police on Tuesday around his office at Item Street Umuahia for no known reason.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary of Abia Online Media Practitioners, Izuchukwu Nwokoma, decries why responsible citizens like the OMPAN Chairman would be molested by security agents at will.
The Statement, further frowned at the rate at which law abiding citizens are arrested almost on daily basis, without cogent reasons.
OMPAN in the statement further called on the Inspector General of Police, Police Commissioner, Abia State to ensure that its Chairman is released unconditionally.
