The Acting Inspector general of police, Adeolu Egbetokun has presented millions of Naira insurance compensation to the families of injured or deceased police officers in Abia state.

Those beneciaries are officers who sustained injuries or lost their lives in the line of duty.

According to the IGP represented by the commissioner of police in Abia state, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, out of 35 persons whose documents were processed, only 12 came forth to collect the cheques.

He said the families were all informed, but added that whenever they show up, theirs would be presented.

While presenting the cheques, the CP on behalf of the IGP said the force was painted at the misfortune that befell some of their colleagues while serving the nation.

He said, the insurance package has been prepared to ameliorate the financial burdens they go through due their incapacitation and prayed the families to put the money to judicious use.

The beneficiaries thanked the IGP for his efforts in ensuring that the benefits were paid.
