Tertiary Education: First university on Umuahia soil unveiled

The city of Umuahia has finally joined the league of state capitals with a full university following the official unveiling of Lux Mundi university, Afara.

The university located a few kilometres away from the government House in Umuahia offers courses in Public Administration, international relations, banking and finance and recently Law.

The founder of the university , Prof. Gabriel Okenwa who elucidated his journey in the banking sector before establishing the university, during a media chat, said integrity paid off in his life profoundly.

He also introduced himself as the pro chancellor of the university and introduced the acting registrar with some deans of facilities.

The pro chancellor revealed that the university is fully licensed with all its courses accredited.

According to him, his love for education and desire to invest in his home state motivated him to sell off his property in the nation’s capital, Abuja to be able to achieve his dream.

As the name implies, he hopes for the institution to become an exception and shine as the light of the world through excellent academic, entrepreneurial and moral impact in the lives of students who pass through the university.

The clergy representing the Umuahia catholic diocese, the Methodist church, Anglican church, Pentecostal church and Christendom in general as well as traditional rulers from various communities had encouraging words to say about the pro chancellor.

The university is expected to introduce medicine and surgery and engineering courses for the 2024/2025 academic session.

With the help of the royal fathers, and priests the permanent site was blessed and officially made ready for the construction of structures.
