New customary court halls in Abia state to be reconstructed simultaneously.

Abia state governor, Dr. Alex Otti on Thursday performed the groundbreaking ceremony at Omoba, Isiala Ngwa south Local government area for the reconstruction of the customary court hall in all the 17 councils in the state.

The project will be executed simultaneously across the state with the same prototype within a period of four months.

It became necessary that the dilapidated court halls received attention following their bad state and non use in most communities.

Governor Alex Otti on the day of the flag off said his government was interested in making the justice system available and accessible to the citizens.

He said the government would be willing to partner the judiciary to deliver justice to both the rich and the poor without bias.

The governor who said the erecting of court halls was part of his campaign promises, announced that his government already made plans for the installation of renewable energy, IT support centre and water supply mechanisms for effective service delivery.

According to the governor, “in the new Abia, “law and order must take precedence over emotions and resort to jungle justice.”

The commissioner for justice and attorney general of the state, Barr. Ikechukwu Uwanna said the judiciary had been the most relegated arm of government over the years causing the decay of its physical infrastructure over time.

He said that apart from rekindling the work spirit in workers, the courts will upon completion be available for expeditious delivery of justice.

On her part, the chief judge of the state, Lilian Abai, thanked the governor for remembering the judiciary.
