One year in office: Jubilation erupts as Ogah presents empowerment items to constituents across political party divides.

It was a beautiful sight to behold on Saturday as member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency, Hon. Amaobi Ogah empowers some members of his constituency despite political leaning.

Hon. Ogah who was marking his one year in office in his community, Onuaku in Uturu, Isuikwuato local government area of Abia state presented lots of life changing equipment to his constituents in appreciation of the privilege given to him to represent them.

There were cars, mini buses, mini trucks, tricycles and motorcycles.

Others included tailoring machines, generators, commercial grinding machines, commercial hair dryers, pressure washing machines as well as bags of fertilizers and rice.

The expression of joy on the faces of the beneficiaries was heartwarming as they prayed for and blessed their benefactor.

One of them, Lady Grace Ibeh could not contain her surprise and joy as she poured encomiums on Ogah, saying his tenure has been phenomenal.

For Hon. Amaobi Ogah, he had no choice than to do what he did as it makes him feel good and satisfied to help others succeed.

He said the times are hard and so had decided to provide people with what will enable them eke out a living using the items they received.

As a true representative of his people, he has returned to give account of his stewardship for the one year he has been in the green chambers representing them.

In an event that saw the leadership of the Labour party in the south east and the state in attendance, he assured that he would continue to keep to his social contract with his people which he said has been remarkable since he assumed duties as a legislator.

“When I assumed office, I swore to myself that I must make a mark on the sands of time. The history of prosperity, the template of service delivery and service to humanity and mankind is the yard stick that I won my mandate to provide service to the teeming people of Isuikwuato /Umunneochi and Abia State in general.

“I’m trying to provide a credible leadership and be a beacon of hope and service delivery to my constituents.

“Permit me to remind you that the primary role of a law maker is to make laws for good governance of our country and therefore whatever expectations our people have of us should be predicated on this perspective.

“We as parliamentarians do not have all the resources to meet all the needs of people, however we do it as a result of constant lobbying of the Federal Government to pay attention to needs of our people and our personal resources we channel to meet the immediate needs and challenges of our people,” he said.

Rep. Ogah who recalled how much he had imparted the liv s of his constituents, said “over the past 15 months, in keeping to my promise to bring home the dividends of democracy to our people, I have been able to empower my people with ground breaking developmental projects among which are the restoration of security of lives and property. This was achieved when I moved my first motion on the need to stop the incessant killing and kidnapping in our constituency which culminated in the setting up of a committee to investigate the situation. The committee in collaboration with the state government made a recommendation for the setting up of operation crush today our people are heaving a sign of relief.

“In the area of infrastructure development we have completed the Ukwunwangwu daily market with solar powered electricity, thus making it arguably the largest open market in the entire Abia North Senatorial district.”In 2024 we opened up an access road to the Ulonna North farm settlement to make the movement of farm produces from the market easy. Furthermore, we have concluded arrangements for the construction of roads in different parts of the constituency to be flagged off in few days. We also sunk solar powered boreholes in the five zones of our constituency. Namely Uturu, Isuikwuato, Isuochi, Umuchieze, Nneato to ease the burden associated with lack of water in our constituency.”

He disclosed that efforts were being made to light up every part of the constituency with solar powered street light, including the premises of Absu International secondary School to ensure a conducive learning environment for students.

He equally highlighted his achievements in education, health and agriculture.

“In education, I have awarded 22 all expense paid scholarship to our youths studying in various institutions and Abia State College of Health Aba. We also added 6 all expenses paid scholarship distributed to the 22 wards in our constituency under my Foundation. We have also commenced the construction of six class rooms in Nneato and Onuaku Uturu Isuikwuato. We also paid exams fees for indigents students in our constituency. This was done with the sole aim of giving them a bright future and provide a platform for youths to achieve their dreams.”We have done enough to improve the health care needs of our people. As the chairman of the House Committee on HiV Adis, tuberculosis and Maleria and by special grace of as the president of all parliamentarians in Africa.”

Earlier, the national vice chairman south East of Labour party, Mr. Ceekay Igara commended Hon. Ogah for being a worthy representative of the party recounting his scorecard.

He also enjoined those who were yet to decide where they belong politically since the fingernail fight in the party to return to the fold to guarantee the parties future politically.
